Sampath WePay presents the first digital “Man of the Match” award
Sampath Bank became the first bank in Sri Lanka to digitally present the ‘Man of the Match’ award during the recently hosted South Africa’s first ODI tour to Sri Lanka, offering a prize of Rs. 300,000 through its digital wallet very popular, Sampath WePay.
Sri Lankan cricketer Avishka Fernando, who was named Man of the Match, received this sum via a real-time electronic funds transfer, via Sampath WePay, during the presentation ceremony.
Sampath Bank is the co-sponsor of the South African tour in Sri Lanka. As part of the partnership, the bank is sponsoring the Man of the Match prize money, digitally transferring the amount to the winners via Sampath WePay.
This initiative is part of Sampath Bank’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness of digital payment solutions such as Sampath WePay and drive their adoption in line with the Government and Central Bank’s vision for digital payments.
